HISTORY Kisumu Local Interaction Platform Trust (KLIP) is a knowledge hub run by Trustees drawn from diverse sectors as private and public sector, academia, civil society, local community, practioners and development partners both local and international. Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) through Mistra Urban Futures of Sweden is the main donor for KLIP programmes. KLIP aims at promoting cogeneration, exchange, dissemination and application of knowledge; bringing on-board diverse stakeholders and transdisciplinary researchers from partnering institutions. KLIP forms part of integral Mistra Urban Futures Global Network comprising of Gothenburg (Sweden); Greater Manchester (UK); Cape Town (South Africa) and newly formed Malmo (Sweden). KLIP was envisioned to relay the message of sustainable urban development through the core areas of FAIR, GREEN and DENSE (later towards the end of Phase One renamed ACCESSIBLE). In phase one (2010 to 2015), KLIP had two flagship thematic areas of Ecotourism and Market Places complemented by two short term projects in Sustainable Urban Development (Goals SUDGs) and Governance And Policy for sustainability (GAPS).
